ShelterPoint Life Releases ABC's of PFL

August 15, 2017

Garden City, New York, (August 15, 2017) – The Paid Family Leave (PFL) experts at ShelterPoint Life Insurance Company (ShelterPoint Life) have created a guide to New York State’s Paid Family Leave Benefits Law. The in-depth guide has become a key resource in helping employers navigate this broad legislation, which affects businesses of every size and type. The New York State Workers’ Compensation Board adopted final regulations on the law July 19, 2017. The law goes into effect Jan. 1, 2018.

“When it comes to PFL, the educational component is paramount in preparing and simplifying the process for employers and businesses of all sizes,” stated Katrin Atienza, AVP Marketing, ShelterPoint Life, and driving force behind the guide. “This resource will help businesses ensure compliance while allowing for greater understanding of the regulations, and, in turn, help enable them to clearly communicate these details to employees.”

The 32-page guide, called, “ABCs of PFL,” is an in-depth, yet simplified, explanation of the regulation. It addresses the basics of the new mandate and explains employer and employee eligibility, the timeline of benefits, premiums, employer responsibilities, employee rights, and compliance tips. The guide may be downloaded at
